Summer Jewellery Care

It feels amazing saying goodbye to springtime and hello to summer! We all spend a lot more time outside in our gardens and in the sun. Which means that we are ditching the hats, scarves and gloves and finally our jewellery gets to bask in the rays.

Beaches, BBQ's, SPF are just three things that come with summer and they can all get a little bit messy, which means our jewellery can to. How can we keep it looking its best without getting hot under the collar?

Don't let sun cream dull your diamonds, sedate your silver and mute your morganite. SPF is a summer essential, but its also a prime suspect for coating your jewellery and taking its shine off. If you're unable to remove your jewellery when wearing or applying SPF, you will want to give it a bit more care in these summer months to keep your jewellery shining. It's as easy as a little washing up liquid and a soft toothbrush. Using warm water and a smidge of the liquid you need to give it a gentle scrubadub-dub, it will soon be bright shiny and sparkly again.

Sand gets everywhere, if you have been to the beach everyone knows even when you are super careful you will be finding it for days. It can easily get trapped in the setting of stones, and whilst its sat there, it stops the light getting to your gemstone, making it appear dull. As above, toothbrush and washing up liquid will do the job nicely, inexpensive and easy. If your a keen gardener soil acts the same and can easily dull your stone, use the same technique to keep it clean.

Cleaning your jewellery regularly is a necessity, not just to keep it looking its best, but to prevent long term damage. If left with a build up of debris it can affect the setting of stones, as it puts pressure on the setting. You can see on my care page more information to help you keep your jewellery looking as good as new.
